Borrowing books
Students, teachers and technical staff of the University of Padua and all those who have a formal research or teaching relationship with the university can borrow books.
Who don't have a formal relationship with the University of Padua can ask a guest user card for use the services and resources offered by all the University libraries. The card is issued from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 18:00.
Borrowing is personal, so the withdrawal of books or other bibliographic material can be made by a person other only if he or she has a power of attorney. Return, on the other hand, can be carried out by a person without any special formalities, including by post.
How to
Only monographic volumes may be loaned.
Books not loanable::
- all printed magazines
- general reference works (e.g. encyclopaedias, dictionaries, manuals, directories) labeled CONS.
- series labeled COLL.
- works of value or published before 1940 labeled MET.STO
- tests labeled TEST (with the exception of teachers in the School of Psychology)
- monographic works excluded from loan are signed in the catalogue and a stamp "Escluso dal prestito" is fixed internally.

Special loans rules
- Educational section (BD location label): volumes have 15 days' loan for all categories of users.
- BD monographs cannot be sent for interlibrary loan.
- Monographs in this section marked "Non pretabile" in the catalogue and stamped "Escluso dal prestito" internally, may be loaned for 24 hours: the book must be returned the next day or the first day of opening (in the case of holidays), otherwise it will be suspended from lending for as many days as the delay, cumulative in the case of several overdue volumes.
- In the case of delays of more than 3 days in returning a volume, the user will be suspended from lending in the libraries of the library hub for a period equal to the days of delay, up to a maximum of 60 days.
- In the event of failure to return a book due to loss or theft, if it is a trade book, the user is obliged to purchase another copy or repay the cost. If the book is no longer in print, the user shall reimburse the value indicated by the library.
