Virtual exhibitions
To promote and increase the visibility of its cultural and artistic heritage, the University Library System curates virtual exhibitions.
Virtual exhibitions offer some advantages over physical events, in fact:
- making available a greater quantity of documents than a physical exhibition;
- making even the most valuable or inaccessible documents available to the public;
- making it possible to show parts and details of works otherwise not perceptible;
- being usable over time, not being limited to the duration of a real event;
- being dynamic, since they are editable and upgradeable at any time.
For its virtual exhibitions, the University Library System has chosen to use MOVIO, the open-source software created by the Central Institute for the Union Catalogue of Italian Libraries and Bibliographic Information (in Italian: Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo Unico delle biblioteche italiane e per le informazioni bibliografiche - ICCU).
A list of all Movio exhibitions is available at https://www.movio.beniculturali.it/index.php?it/68/mostre-realizzate.
