Journals and articles
How to find a journal
To check whether a journal is owned by the library of the Padua Library System use GalileoDiscovery.
In particular, the Journals Search menu allows you to
- search for a journal by title using the search box
- scroll through the list of available journals for a specific subject area using the categories on the left
In the Legal Sciences Library, journals are generally on open shelves.
You can reserve issues and volumes of journals via GalileoDiscovery, after logging in with your institutional credentials (or via Social Login for guest users). An email will notify you when the material is available in the library.
If the Sala riviste is occupied by meetings or exams, it may be impossible to consult journals with titles starting with A to H, up to about the year 2020.
Many journals also have online access, as indicated in Galileo Discovery.
Part of the material owned by the library is kept at the Nuovo Archivio di Legnaro - NAL, which is not accessible to the public. The terms of consultation and/or loan of this material are detailed on the web page of the Nuovo Archivio di Legnaro - NAL (ita).
How to find a journal article
Using GalileoDiscovery
If you are looking for academic articles on a given topic, use the Search Everything profile in GalileoDiscovery which allows you to widen your search and retrieve journal articles, most of which can be consulted online.
Enter keywords in the basic search box and refine your results using the filters and facets on the right.
Using databases
Databases are online archives that may contain articles from academic journals, books, and references. They can be multidisciplinary or subject-specific.
Legal databases, for example, allow the search of legislation and case law.
You can find all the databases made available to you by the Library System in GalileoDiscovery thanks to the Database Search menu.
On the library website, the Find Materials section highlights some of the most relevant resources for the legal sciences.
How to access
Every year, the Library System selects and makes books, journals and databases available through subscriptions.
There may be different ways of accessing resources:
- via On-campus connection, from computers available in the library
- via Off-campus connection thanks to the Auth-Proxy service or SSO authentication
- some databases are only accessible from computers in the library (they are mentioned in GalileoDiscovery)
- some articles are available in open access, in this case, no authentication is required
