Nuovo Archivio di Legnaro – NAL

At the Nuovo Archivio di Legnaro (NAL), located just outside Padua, since 2003 the University Library System has had wide space where books and periodicals of very rare reference are collected and stored, as verified by the use analyses of the proprietary libraries.

With more than 15,000 linear meters of compact shelving at its disposal, the NAL represents a central facility that has a twofold function for the deposited material: it is responsible for both its proper storage, ensuring controlled temperature and humidity conditions and anti-intrusion and fire safety systems, and its timely management, guaranteeing the loan and document delivery services to the owner library, which then acts as an intermediary to users.

Services are provided remotely and there is usually no public access to the archive.

Loan of volumes stored at the NAL

If you need to have a book stored at the NAL on loan or for reference, you will need to submit your request through GalileoDiscovery. Books stored at the NAL are marked Deposito NAL next to the call number.

The requested book will be available at the library that owns the document usually within 3 working days after the request is received by the NAL.

Delivery of documents stored at the NAL

If you are an institutional user or a guest user with a Guest User card, you can request journal articles or parts of books via GalileoDiscovery. Bibliographic material stored at the NAL is marked Deposito NAL in GalileoDiscovery.

Institutional users may receive a scanned copy of the document by e-mail or collect the hard copy from the library that holds the document.

Guest users must collect the document in hard copy from the library that owns the material.

Requests can only be processed if complete with all the information needed to find the documents and if the request does not exceed 15% of the publication, in compliance with the Copyright Law (Law no. 633 of 22 April 1941 and subsequent amendments).
