Metelli meets… Essere eterni: a dialog with con Ines Testoni

The Fabio Metelli Central Library of Psychology organizes a conference "Metelli meets... Essere eneterni: a dialogue with Ines Testoni."

The event, open to both the university community and the public, will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 5:00 PM in Room 2A, Psico2 Building, Via Venezia 12/2. The keynote speaker will be Ines Testoni, professor of Social Psychology and Psychology of End-of-Life, Loss, and Death Relationships at the University of Padua.

Testoni will engage with the audience in a discussion led by Laura Liberale, writer, indologist, and thanatologist, in a discussion inspired by the very recent essay Essere eterni (Il Saggiatore, 2025).

The book, which has received widespread public attention (see RaiCultura and Fahrenheit Rai Radio 3), proposes a way to address the fear of annihilation by drawing on a vast body of knowledge, ranging from the reflections of Parmenides to the studies of psychiatrist Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, the works of Jorge Luis Borges, and the theories of Baruch Spinoza and Emanuele Severino.

Ines Testoni is Professor of Social Psychology and Psychology of End-of-Life, Loss, and Death at the University of Padua, where she also directs the Death Studies & the End of Life master's program and the Creative Arts Therapies advanced course, aimed at supporting people experiencing discrimination. She has published Il grande libro della morte  (2021) and Il terzo sesso (2023) with Il Saggiatore.

Laura Liberale is a writer, indologist, and thanatologist. She teaches training courses in philosophy, creative writing, and the medical humanities.
