La Metelli incontra... the Artificial Intelligence

Conference on the occasion of the "Supercharged by AI" exhibition

published: Mar 12, 2025

On Thursday 13 March 2025, at 5.30 p.m. in Room 2B, Psico 2 building, via Venezia 12/2, the conference "La Metelli incontra... the Artificial Intelligence" will be held.

Organised by the "Fabio Metelli" Central Library of Psychology and the Beato Pellegrino Library of Literary, Linguistic, Pedagogical and Performing Arts Studies, the conference is part of Supercharged by AI, an itinerant exhibition on the ethical and social impacts of Artificial Intelligence that is currently running through more than 50 libraries in Europe.

The meeting, open to the university community and the general public, aims to explore the complex implications of AI tools and models. AI tools are used to create news, copy reality and shape public opinions and behaviour in ways that are almost impossible to discover.

AI models trained on data that reflect their creators' prejudices reinforce stereotypes and lead to consequences that go far beyond the digital sphere.

How can we remain informed and aware of this rapidly evolving technology?

The meeting will be held in Italian and guests will lead the discussion:

Silvana Badaloni, lecturer of the general course in "Saperi di genere ed Etica nell’Intelligenza Artificiale" at the Department of Information Engineering

Michele Cortelazzo, professor emeritus of Italian Linguistics, ordinary academic of the Accademia della Crusca

Alberto Testolin, teaches Artificial Intelligence and deals with cognitive modelling at the Department of General Psychology

Introduced by Massimo Ferrante, Director of the Central Library of Psychology "F. Metelli", and Laura Pieropan, Head of the Beato Pellegrino Library.
