The Fabio Metelli Central Library of Psychology and the School of Psychology organize the conference "La Metelli incontra... All Possible Worlds: The Library of Evolution According to Telmo Pievani."
The event will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025, at 6:15 PM in Room 2D, Psico 2 Building, Via Venezia 12/2.
Telmo Pievani, guest of honor, will converse with Vincenzo Calvo and interact with the audience, drawing inspiration from his recent and fascinating essay Tutti i mondi possibili. Un'avventura nella grande biblioteca dell'evoluzione
The conference, open to both the university community and the public, aims to guide us through Borges's Library of Babel, research into the catalog of catalogs, investigations to find the volume containing the answers to the "fundamental mysteries of humanity," libraries of genes and amino acids... and three and a half billion years of evolution.
Telmo Pievani, evolutionist, philosopher of science, and essayist, teaches Philosophy of Biological Sciences at the Department of Biology at the University of Padua and is a visiting scientist at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. He contributes to Corriere della Sera, Le Scienze, MicroMega, and Lucy.
Vincenzo Calvo teaches Psychodynamics of Family Relationships in the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Education, and Applied Psychology.
Introduction by Andrea Facoetti, professor of Psychobiology and President of the Fabio Metelli Central Psychology Library Commission, and Massimo Ferrante, Library Director.
Participation is free, but reservations are required on Eventbrite.
