Journals and articles

Printed journals

Journals in paper format are stored in the library storage room or in the New Archive in Legnaro and can only be consulted in the library by asking the library staff available at the reception desk.

In the storage room you will find journals which have the location prefix RIV followed by a number (e.g. RIV.357). In the Galileo Discovery card you immediately have access to the holdings, that is the precise indication of the volumes and years of the searched journal that the library owns.

  • open subscription:
    1(1980) -
magazine owned from vol. 1 of 1980 to the current year
  • subscription closed:
    1(1980) - 10(1990)
magazine owned from vol. 1 of 1980 to vol. 10 of 1990
  • missing years:
    1(1980) - 3(1982) ; 5(1984)-
the collection stops at vol. 3 of 1982 and resumes with vol. 5 of 1984
  • lacunose subscription:
    Lac. 1980
one or more files from 1980 are missing

Journals with collocation DEP.RIV followed by number and suffix LG (e.g. DEP.RIV.536.LG) are kept at the New Archive in Legnaro and can be reserved through GalileoDiscovery or requested at the front office. The reserved resource will arrive at the library normally within 3 working days (please wait for the arrival notice by e-mail).

Electronic journals

The University Library System offers a growing collection of journals in electronic format, available online and searchable with GalileoDiscovery by following the link to the site of the publisher that publishes the journal. The Galileo Discovery card also provides information on how to access, for instance limited access to the university network or via Single Sign-On (SSO). Some journals require a special username and password, which can be obtained from the library.

To search for a scientific article, the use of databases, also accessible via GalileoDiscovery, is of great importance.

If an article is not included in the journals made available by the University, it can be requested through the Document Delivery service. After the request has been entered, the library staff will identify an Italian or foreign library in possession of the material, request a copy and deliver it to the requestor in paper format directly to the library.
