Library holdings
In addition to bibliographic material (modern and antique books, manuscripts, journals, etc.), many ‘objects’ of historical and scientific interest can be found in the library.
Some paintings are kept in the library, such as oil or printed portraits of several prefects, 19th-century views and a plan of the kitchen garden, a reproduction of the foundation deed of 1545, and the library of 1835. The portraits are part of the Botanists' Iconotheque.
The portrait of Dante Alighieri by Leopoldo Toniolo was the first prize in the lottery (1865) for the erection of the statues of Giotto and Dante by Vincenzo Vela in the Loggia Amulea and was won by De Visiani.
There is also a Torricellian barometer signed by Paolo Rocchetti, 19th century, and a microscope by Domenico Saccardo (1872-1952).
A collection of medals also includes some of De Visiani's honours.
A curious object is a short text engraved on marble entitled ‘Botany for caretakers’, a sculpture of unknown provenance.
