Bibliographic exhibition "Women in Psychology: selected texts of protagonists in the History of Psychology"
For the International Women's Day, the Fabio Metelli Central Psychology Library presents a bibliographic exhibition held in the library from March 5 to 26, 2026.
Women in Psychology. Selected texts of protagonists in the History of Psychology
Third Edition
The exhibition celebrates the female voices who have helped redefine our understanding of the mind. Through a precious selection of texts held in the Metelli Library -from Christine Ladd-Franklin to Eleanor Maccoby, from Melanie Klein to Anna Freud, from Carmela Di Lallo Metelli to Margaret Mead - the exhibition suggests a journey through over a century of women's contributions to psychology.
Women's contribution to the birth and development of the discipline is often underestimated: in late nineteenth-century Western society, prejudices and academic barriers persisted, but many female scholars managed to overcome these barriers by actively participating in scientific debate.
Each volume on display tells a story of intellectual courage, scientific rigor, and innovative vision: works that have shaped our understanding of the human mind, child development, relationships, and the social sciences.
