Search Articles

To find scholarly articles on a given topic or by a certain author, one can use GalileoDiscovery in the “Search All” search profile or search multidisciplinary or discipline-specific databases for a certain subject area.

The Databases available for the University Library System can be found in the “Database search” menu in GalileoDiscovery.

Searching through bibliographic databases differs from searching through a generic search engine because it allows the retrieval of referenced bibliographic news with guaranteed scientificity.

 

Search Journals

Scientific journals can be found using GalileoDiscovery (Search Journals menu).

The journal may be available in print, electronic (e-journal), or both formats simultaneously, but with different chronological coverage of the holdings.

Print Journals

Printed journals are not loanable, but only available for reference in the library. They can be open-shelf or deposited in storage and requested for reference without the need for reservation. The location and holdings for each title are indicated in GalileoDiscovery.

Electronic Journals 

Electronic journals (e-journals) and articles in electronic format can be accessed: 

  • On-campus network, without any authentication;
  • Off-campus network, after configuration of the Proxy service or authentication with Single Sign On (SSO) reserved for institutional users (@studenti.unipd.it and @unipd.it);
  • Open Access article journals require no authentication.
