Between author's rights and copyright: a comparison of two protection models
A collection of legal contributions dedicated to the topic of european author’s rights and american copyright, on the occasion of World Book and Copyright Day.
On the occasion of April 23rd, World Book and Copyright Day, the library presents a thematic collection dedicated to copyright in its legal dimension, both national and international.
This subject is particularly complex and multifaceted today: on one hand, Italy still relies on the Law of April 22, 1941, No. 633, a historical regulation, ironically called the "Arlecchino Law" for its fragmented and layered structure; on the other hand, the debate is more relevant than ever, fueled by the challenges posed by emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, which questions the very boundaries of authorship, creativity, and the protection of works.
This collection offers a broad and detailed overview of:
- The legal framework of copyright and droit d’auteur, and the comparison between the two models;
- The management and circulation of rights in the digital environment (streaming, open access, web platforms);
- The challenges related to artificial intelligence, the metaverse, blockchain, and user-generated content;
- The international protection of works and the role of supranational conventions;
- Moral rights, plagiarism and publishing contracts.
