Opening of two new library rooms

The Philosophy Library inaugurates room 7 and room 8 on the ground floor of the building

published: Mar 31, 2025

On Tuesday 1st April (no, it's not an April Fool's joke) we will open two new rooms managed by our library!

The new multifunctional spaces dedicated to students and the academic community were officially inaugurated on Thursday 27th March, they are located on the ground floor of the Palazzo del Capitanio in Piazza Capitaniato 3. These are the AIS 1 and AIS 3 rooms, completely renovated and made operational thanks to the joint intervention of the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Pedagogy and Applied Psychology and the Philosophy Library, in collaboration with the University Library Centre.

The renovation project involved the remodeling of the former classrooms, with the aim of offering modern, welcoming and functional spaces.

The AIS 1 room, called ROOM 8 for the library, now has 16 seats and 57 linear meters of shelving, while the AIS 3 room, called ROOM 7, can accommodate 28 people and has 69 linear meters of shelves. The shelves have already been populated with volumes from the Philosophy Library, an operation that has also made it possible to lighten the open-shelf collections, thus improving accessibility and use of the book heritage by users.

The hours and regulations of the Philosophy library apply to the two new rooms, the permanence in the seats is, as usual, tied to the reservation and validation of your seat via the Affluences app, for any information, the point of reference always remains the library front-office on the second floor!
