Books

The Library owns approximately 105,000 modern monographic volumes and a total of 282 subscriptions to printed or online periodicals.

Some of the volumes can be freely consulted on the open shelf, but the majority of the holdings are located in closed repositories and are retrieved on request.

To check if a book is in the library you need to consult GalileoDiscovery.

The Library purchases bibliographic material relevant to the subject and proposed by the research staff, as well as examination texts adopted in the Philosophy degree courses and related courses.

Examination texts are excluded from lending and placed on the open shelf, if a second copy is available it can be borrowed for 15 days.

Antiquarian books (location Z.ANT) can be reserved on GalileoDiscovery or requested by email to biblio.filosofia@unipd.it , users will be notified of volume availability at the front office. Antique material is available for consultation at the front office only.

 

Books in the library

The open shelves contain the works of the main philosophers, general reference works (dictionaries, encyclopaedias, bibliographies, repertories) and those relating to disciplines related to philosophy, examination texts from the last two academic years and current periodicals. The books are located according to the Library of Congress classification scheme.

 

Books in storage

Material not available on the open shelf (location sections M, FT) is stored in the stacks. It is available upon request at fixed times: 9 a.m.; 10.30 a.m.; 12 noon; 2 p.m.; 3.30 p.m.; 5 p.m.

The Bodrero Fund (collocation FB) and the magazines stored in the warehouse (collocation RIV.M and DEP.RIV.A) are located in depots outside the facility and are picked up twice a week upon request.

Journals with RIV.M collocation and volumes with FT collocation can be consulted from the day after the request.

How to request books in the repositories: volumes can be reserved on GalileoDiscovery by entering your credentials in the AUTHENTICATED section (SSO for institutional users and Social Login for external users already in possession of the University Library System Card).

How to request journals placed on deposit (DEP.RIV.A., RIV.M.): enter the request from GalileoDiscovery and in the comment indicate the issue/volume and year requested.

Users will receive an email alert regarding the availability of the requested material.

 

EBook

The search channels for finding ebooks are Galileodiscovery and the MLOL platform.

It is possible to consult and/or download eBooks from outside the University network via a remote connection.
