The library
The biological-medical Library Antonio Vallisneri was founded in 1990. The library merged seven different libraries (Biology, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Anthropology, Histology and General Pathology). The foundation of the Library followed the creation of the Interdepartmental Centre for Services, now called cluster Antonio Vallisneri which had also been founded in 1990.
The Library owns 27,000 monographs and 2,300 journals.
Both monographs and journals are organized on open shelves: users can access them directly. The documents are classified according to the Library of Congress System, which has been adopted by many scientific libraries worldwide.
