ChemDraw: the essential software for drawing chemical structures
The University has subscribed a three-year subscription to Revvity Signals ChemDraw and Signals Notebook, available to all institutional users.
Signals ChemDraw is a software for drawing and representing chemical structures, used in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, and materials science.
Main features:
- Molecular structure drawing: ChemDraw allows you to create accurate representations of molecules, organic and inorganic compounds, polymers, biological structures, and much more. The intuitive interface enables quick drawing of even complex structures.
- Chemical reactions: You can illustrate reaction mechanisms, synthetic schemes, and metabolic pathways with professional precision, using arrows, reaction conditions, and custom annotations.
- Chemical property calculations: The software integrates tools to calculate molecular weight, molecular formula, estimated boiling point, and other physicochemical properties of drawn molecules.
- Chemical nomenclature: ChemDraw automatically generates IUPAC names and converts names into structures, facilitating scientific communication and literature research.
- Database integration: Ability to search for structures in chemical databases such as Reaxys, PubChem, and others, directly from the program interface.
- Publication preparation: Created structures are publication-quality and can be exported in various formats (PNG, SVG, PDF, etc.) for inclusion in scientific articles, theses, presentations, and posters.
- Templates and libraries: Access to a wide range of predefined templates (amino acids, nucleotides, sugars, aromatic rings) that speed up drawing work.
Signals Notebook is a cloud-based Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) platform designed to modernize scientific research documentation, replacing traditional paper notebooks with a powerful, secure, and collaborative digital tool.
Main features:
- Electronic experiment documentation: Allows recording of experimental protocols, observations, results, and conclusions in digital format, with automatic timestamps that guarantee data traceability and integrity.
- ChemDraw integration: Chemical structures created in ChemDraw can be easily incorporated into the notebook, creating rich and professional documentation of chemical research.
- Multimedia data management: You can attach files of any type (images, graphs, NMR spectra, chromatograms, videos, datasets), centralizing all experimental documentation in a single environment.
- Search and organization: Powerful search tools allow you to quickly retrieve past experiments, chemical structures, experimental conditions, or specific results within the entire laboratory archive.
- Collaboration and sharing: The notebook facilitates collaboration among research group members, allowing protocol sharing, commenting on others' experiments, and working simultaneously on common projects, even remotely.
- Customizable templates: You can create standardized templates for recurring procedures, ensuring documentation uniformity and saving time in experiment preparation.
- Regulatory compliance: Signals Notebook is designed to meet compliance requirements for pharmaceutical and regulated research (FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GLP, GMP), with electronic signature functionality and complete audit trail.
- Security and backup: Being cloud-based, data is automatically saved, protected by redundant backups, and accessible from any device with internet connection, eliminating the risk of information loss.
- Intellectual property: The certified dating of experiments and modification traceability provide solid documentation for intellectual property protection and potential patents.
