Journals and articles

The Library owns scientific journals both in paper and in electronic format, which mainly cover the disciplinary areas of Veterinary medicine, Animal sciences, Agricultural sciences, Forestry sciences, Landscape studies, Food science and technology, Viticultural and Enological Science and Technology.

Use the Journal Search function on the GalileoDiscovery top bar and write the title in the search box to find the journals you are interested in.

If you don't know the exact title of the journal you’re searching for, scroll through the list by category in the left bar and select the categories of interest.
For example:

  • Art, architecture and applied arts > Gardens, landscape architecture and parks
  • Economy > Commerce > Marketing and distribution of products
  • Economy > Agricultural economics
  • Health and Biological Sciences > Veterinary Medicine / Zoology
  • Earth and environmental sciences > Agriculture / Botany / Forestry

Scientific journals can be available in paper or electronic format or in both formats, even with different holdings.
For the paper version of scientific journals, GalileoDiscovery provides information on the holding (years and numbers actually available) and the location (the shelf where the issues are located).
The current year of paper journals is available for consultation and possible photo-reproduction in the first room of the Agripolis Library.
To consult previous years that are stored in the deposits you can ask the library staff.
Journal issues cannot be borrowed.

GalileoDiscovery offers a large selection of electronic journals. You can access the full text of the articles using a computer workstation having an in-campus connection; if you have an @unipd.it or @studenti.unipd.it email account, you can also use the off-campus connection on your devices via the Auth-proxy remote connection service or, in some cases, via Single Sign-On (SSO). To consult free and open access resources no authentication is required.

In GalileoDiscovery the search is performed by default in the libraries’ collections (Library Catalogue option). To broaden your search to articles and other types of resources, use the Search Everything option and then refine the results using the filters on the right.

To learn more about a topic you can also consult the online databases thanks to the Database Search function; you can also filter by Agriculture or Veterinary Medicine or other categories of interest.

Some journals have been transferred to the Nuovo Archivio di Legnaro (NAL), which is not accessible to the public. If you are an institutional user or a guest user with an SBA card, you can request a copy of the articles published in these journals via GalileoDiscovery ( the authentication is required).
