Giorgio Lago

Collection

Giorgio Lago (1937–2005) was the journalist who, more than anyone else, brought the North-East of Italy (“Nordest”) to national attention, highlighting its political and socio-economic development.

Part of the extensive documentation he collected throughout his career was donated by his heirs and now forms the Giorgio Lago Collection, preserved at the Ca’ Borin Library.

The collection includes around 950 volumes, mainly focused on the Nordest region. They can all be searched through GalileoDiscovery, are available on open shelves, and may be consulted in the library and/or borrowed.

The archival material includes:

  • Lago’s articles and writings from the 1960s to his final publications,
  • typed drafts and annotated manuscripts,
  • personal and professional correspondence,
  • documents from conferences and public events,
  • materials related to public figures connected to his work,
  • records concerning the newspaper Il Gazzettino, which he directed from 1984 to 1986.
